Our ‘Wills Online’ service is provided specifically for those clients / prospective clients who prefer to provide their instructions in this way.
For those clients who prefer to conduct their business in person, we will be delighted to arrange a meeting and to provide a clear indication of the likely cost before starting any work. We will then seek approval before proceeding.
Our costs for (a) standard will(s) (ie. without inheritance tax planning or similar advice) are as set out in paragraph 9 of our Terms and Conditions (below)
In simple terms, our fee for a straightforward will is £120 plus VAT (£141 in all) and for ‘mirror wills’ (for example, for husband and wife), £190 plus VAT (£223.25 in all). In addition, there is a standard charge of £5 plus VAT per person for carrying out the required money laundering checks (please refer to the section on Money Laundering Policy at the bottom of the Wills Questionnaire). In more complex cases (say, where Inheritance Tax planning is involved) our fees will be calculated mainly by reference to the amount of time we spend on the matter. We will however, provide you with a clear estimate of the likely fees in such case and seek your authority before we start any work. We might also ask for a payment on account.
Please note that our charging rates are reviewed annually and you will be notified in writing of any change in these rates.
For clients using our online service we will endeavour to send you a first draft of your will within 3 working days of receiving your completed questionnaire.
Dawn Parkes will be responsible for the overall care of your matter, assisted by Alison Glegg. Dawn is a solicitor and partner in the firm and Head of the Probate Department; Alison is a trained paralegal specialising in the preparation of wills.
