David Bloomfield is a childcare specialist who recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of his qualification as a solicitor in 1976. Educated at Norwich School, he completed his LLB at the University of Leeds in 1973. He trained at the Harrow-based firm of Blackman and Blackman, and has been a Hatch Brenner partner since 1985. Indeed, David worked first for Crotch, Brenner and Dunkley, and then for Hatch & Hatch, and was a key figure in bringing the two together in 1992. David is a trustee of the Families House charity, whose work for children includes providing supervised contact with parents. He has also previously chaired a Norfolk County Council working party which investigated guardians’ pay in Norfolk. He was a consultant for a textbook on child protection for midwives, and contributes articles to periodicals about children’s law.
David is also a member and former interviewer for the Law Society’s Children’s Panel; a past chair of the Children’s Society Adoption Panel; and a member of the Norfolk & Norwich Medico-Legal Society. His leisure interests include carpentry, badminton, cooking and cricket.
